Epiphany Bay Farm Young Horse Awards
2010 Young Horse Awards
In 2010, we sadly report that there were not any young horses
competing in the Cleveland Bay Horse Society of North America
Performance Awards Program who would have been eligible for
these Young Horse Awards. We did have our two year
old, Epiphanybay Hamilton entered into the CBHSNA Performance
Awards for 2010, although, we decline to offer this award to a
horse which we owned at the time of program.
Purebred and Partbred
In 2009 we began sponsoring two Young Horse Awards through
the Cleveland Bay Horse Society of North America Performance
Awards Program. The purpose is to encourage owners of
young Cleveland Bay horses to show them. As a critically
endangered breed, there are not enough young horses or venues in
which to show them, which would allow young horses to compete
solely against young horses. Currently, an In-Hand
Cleveland Bay class requires all ages and sexes of Cleveland
Bays to compete in one class. It is difficult for a gangly
youngster to compete against a mature horse. The classes
are only separated by Purebred or Partbred. This
separation of Purebred and Partbred is a success in itself as in
the not too distant past, they all competed in the same class as
there were so few Purebreds.
We want to reward the efforts of those owners who take the
time, effort, patience and financial commitment to show their
young Cleveland Bays. Our heartfelt goal is that in the
near future, there will be enough young Cleveland Bays competing
to support classes just for them! In the meantime, we are
proud to recognize the 2009 winners.
